Assistant Professor Dr. Nutthaphut Panjad, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Arts, and Dr. Apichart Intravisit, Program Director of the Master of Arts in Arts and Design, represented Assumption University as keynote speakers at the Lancang-Mekong Culture Camp 2026. The camp took place from 24 to 28 September 2026 in Gusheng Village, situated beside Erhai Lake in Dali, Yunnan Province, People’s Republic of China.
During the academic exchange session on 27 September 2026, both faculty members joined scholars from Peking University, Chulalongkorn University, Yunnan University, and the University of Brawijaya in examining how art, creativity, and cultural heritage may strengthen connections among communities.
Organized by the Artistic Agri-Tech Courtyard of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute under the theme “Using the ‘Self’ as Method: From Nostalgia to River Basins,” the camp transformed a traditional village into a living classroom. Participants from China, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia engaged in cultural practices including tea preparation, flower arrangement, incense, cooking, and lantern launching, and conducted interviews with local Bai families, documenting their stories through photography, sketching, writing, and sound recording. The programme also included a Lancang-Mekong reunion banquet celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival traditions.
The event was attended by distinguished guests including Mr. Huang Shun, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Dali Bai Autonomous Prefectural Committee, and Professor Wang Tianxiang of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.
This participation underscores the international relevance of Assumption University’s expertise in arts, design, and communication, and reaffirms the University’s commitment to academic and cultural exchange across national borders.
